- The Vietnam war was in full swing, needing infantry men to hunt through the jungles and drafted Ric. He place extremely high in mechanics, but put him in First Infantry. He served from Jan. 1970 to Aug. 1971 when he sustained a mine blast which splattered him full length on the right side with shrapnel. He was helicoptered out, and taken to the States. They sewed his ulner nerve together which left some cramping and loss of feeling in his right hand fingers, but he does almost everything.
