83 Aged Resident Goes to Eternal Reward

Mrs. Hebe Abbas Passed Away on Monday Morning at Advanced Age of 82 Years

After an illness of several years, Mrs. Hebe G. Abbas passed away last Sunday evening at 8:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Buckholt of German township. Her death was due to arterial sclerosis, primarily, and also to advanced age. Mrs. Abbas had made her home with her daughter for a number of years. During her long illness she had all the care that loving children could bestow, but her time allotted on earth by the Master had been fulfilled, and she was called to her reward.

Hebe G. Schweden was born on February 14, 1838, at Hinto, Germany, and died August 22, 1920, at the home of her daughter in German township. At the age of seventeen she came to this country and settled at Grudeture, Illinois, where she was united in marriage the following year to Lambert Hendricks. The young couple lived one year in Illinois, them moved to Cedar Falls, Ia. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom have passed away except one daughter, Mrs. Ida Williamson; who resides in Wisconin. Mr. Hendricks also passed away at Cedar Falls, but we have been unable to ascertain the exact date. In 1872 Mrs. Hendriicks was united in marriage to Mr. Hemme Abbas, at Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Six children were born to this union, of whom two preceded the Mother to the Great Beyond. In 1892 Mr. and Mrs. Abbas moved to Hancock county, where Mr. Abbas died on January 26, 1897. Since that time Mrs. Abbas has made her home with her children. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons and three daughters, Arnt Abbas of Doran, Minn., George of Worthing, S.D., Mrs. Ida Williamson of Wisconsin, Mrs. Flora Miller of Doran, Minn., and Mrs. Fannie Buckholt of German township besides other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Abbas was a devout member of the German Presbyterian church, and her funeral services were held from that church in Woden yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Kruse of that church having charge. Interment was by the side of her husband in the Woden cemetery. Another good woman, after a long and busy life, filled with good deeds and actions toward her neighbors and friends, and with the loving care of her family, has passed to her eternal reward. The Topic extends its sincere sympathy to the sorrowing relatives in their hour of bereavement.
SWEEDEN, Hebe (I2851)

84 Alma Therese Berg was baptized by J. O. Lundberg. BERG, Alma Theresa (I169)

86 Although he was 14 years old at the time of the 1880 census, it shows he was a farmer. DOAK, Annanias (I2811)

87 Although her grave marker shows her birth date as 3 Nov 1814, the baptism record shows that she was born on 16 Dec 1820.
The death record from the Lime Creek Lutheran Church Records gives her age as 91 1/2 years, which would give her a birth date of Nov 1813.
MIKKELSDATTER, Beret (I2408)

88 Although her obituary states that Minnie had been a widow for several years when she married John Martin, it turns out that Levi Reese did not die until 1909 while John Martin died in 1907. HOSFORD, Minnie (I2783)

90 Although no document has been found identifying the final resting place for Edla, it seems likely that she is buried in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in an unmarked grave, near her daughters and extended family. ERSDOTTER, Edla (I2732)

91 Although the Bethany Lutheran Church Membership Register shows that he both arrived in America and arrived in this place in 1869, I do not think he came to Pope County, MN that early. His daughter, Ida was born in Ishpeming in Dec 1869. FELT, John (I436)

92 Although the death certificate indicates that Selma was buried in Glenwood, it does not name the cemetery. FRISELL, Selma (I508)

93 Although the death record gives the date of death as April 18, 1894, it shows that it was recorded on May 6, 1893. This makes me think that the information on the grave marker is correct. ANDERSON, Johanna Sophia (I523)

94 Although The Longley Family Genealogy gives the date of the marriage between Thomas Eaton and Lois Longley as 1855, it is more likely they were married about 1835, based on the birth dates of their children. Family F374

95 Although the MNHS Death Index shows his date of death as 4 Mar 1933, the certificate itself correctly shows 4 May 1933.

The death certificate states that he died at 7:45 am.
BERG, August Axel (I1)

96 Although there is no grave marker and no mention of her in the Bethany Cemetery records, it seems likely that she is buried in the Bethany Cemetery. JANSDOTTER, Christina Lovisa (I388)

Her grave marker shows her date of death as 11 Jun 1902.
The Bethany Lutheran Church Membership Register also shows her date of death as 11 Jun 1902.
ANDERSON, Amanda Charlotta (I534)

98 Amanda's death record at the Pope County courthouse shows she was born in Shelby County, IL on 10 May 1875.
The Bethany Lutheran Church Membership Register gives her birthplace as O'Brien (Obrine), IA and birth date as 10 Mar 1875.
The letter of dismission for Peter and Amanda from their previous church gives her date of birth as 10 Mar 1875.
ANDERSON, Amanda Charlotta (I534)

99 Amanda, shown with her husband and children, lived in a house rented for $8 per month that was not on a farm. She was 45 years old, born in Iowa, and had completed the 6th grade in school. The family had lived in the same house in 1935. She did not work outside the home and had income from no other sources. ROGNESS, Amanda Margaret (I91)
