The membership register for Bethany Lutheran Church, the John J. Berg family Bible, his obituaries, his Find A Grave memorial, and other sources all provide the detail that he was born in Ishpeming, MI which is located in Marquette county.
His birth was not recorded at the courthouse for Marquette County, Michigan.
